I’ve been looking for different ways to take my workout to the next level. When you mostly workout alone, it can be hard to push yourself, especially on the days you just don’t FEEL like it. So after asking for different gym recommendations on air, Chris “The Sergeant” Arzu, owner of 9Round in Irmo, hit me up on Snapchat and told me he has just what I’m looking for: a 30 minute high intensity kickboxing class. SIGN. ME. UP.
Chris took me through each station, how the intervals work, and proper technique. Then we started. Warm up included jump rope (which lowkey kicked me ass) and lunges with kettlebell presses, and deadlifts. Then you get to the bags.
As a former Marine, Chris is motivating to say the least. But he also took the time to explain technique so I was able to do the punches (speed-bags are HARD…and move wicked fast). I did a mix of solo work on the bags and then punching & cardio or boxing combos with him (like the one you see in the video).
30 minutes later, I was sweaty and energized and already looking forward to the my next class. Highly recommend!
