8 Brutally Honest Truths

You can watch the video to hear a more in depth explanation of these, but to sum it up, here are the “8 brutally honest truths you need to hear to get your shit together.”

  1. You’re going to regret how much time you spend on social media.
  2. Your reactions are the problem.
  3. The riskiest thing you can do is avoid risk.
  4. You should always have enough money for what matters.
  5. People are going to hate you no matter what you do.
  6. Blaming only makes you weaker.
  7. People don’t think of you as much as you think they do.
  8. Not even the perfect relationship is going to complete you.

So let’s discuss! I agree 100% with #1, #3, and #5.

As much as social media is great for entertainment, to connect over long distances, and to keep you up to date, I do think it is a problem. We’re constantly buried in our phones, deep in our FOMO (fear of missing out). I’ve been to concerts where people hold their phone so they can Facebook Live the entire show, which means they end up watching the show through their phones as well. Can we ever just enjoy something and look back on it fondly? Do we constantly have to show off what we’re enjoying while not being able to fully enjoy it because we’re so worried how many people are seeing that we’re out here living life?! PUT. THE. PHONE. DOWN.

I’m a risk taker, or at least I like to think so. I used to always say “I’d rather regret doing something, than regret not doing it.” And while what exactly “it” means has changed (a lot) for me, I still try to do things based off the fact that we get one life to live. I try to not let my pride or fear of failing get the best of me.

#5 is the realest shit ever. DO YOU. Now, this is not freedom to be a complete JO to people, but it’s a reminder that you need to live the best life for you. And this is from the really important things to the dumbest things. I’m 5’11, and every time, EVERY TIME, I wear heels, people make comments: “You’re too tall to wear heels.” And I give them the same response: “Hop off my jock.” I’m doing it for me, not you. Head up, shoulders back. Swag.

Your turn. Do you agree/disagree with this list? What should be added to this list?
